Rich and Steve hit form again

On the second of the Upminster poker rings texas hold'em evenings (11/11/2005) the two players emerging as the most consistent 'finalists' prevailed once more. Both Richard Thomas and Steve Watts shared the buy in's in the two games played, although strong showings from Dale Bennett in both games also was commendable. I showed strongly in the second game but went an 'all in' to far (with JK-JK) and missed out on being in the final pair.

Thanks to Dale Bennett for buying a supurb poker table top with a nice surface, drink and chip holders built in, this added to the enjoyment and feel of the game. The increased food and beer allocation meant that nobody was needing a take away at 11pm.

It was decided to run the poker games every 6 weeks in the future as once a month was proving difficult to schedule with everyone having very busy diaries. Thus our next poker evening with be first week of January 2006. Another decision was to log the significant hands to place on this blog for future reference.

Poker Evening II

Guys,

After some delay i am now suggesting a date for our second Texas Hold'em Poker evening. Please email me back with your availability for the date below ASAP.

VENUE: Tony's Flat in Upminster
DATE: Friday 11th of November 2005 8pm til late
DEALER: Ernie Cossey (Late Night Again Ern)
PLAYERS: Max of 9 with Priority to regular players

Remember; you get £1200 in chips each game for a 'buy in' of £25 for each game. Last time we fitted in a few games and adjusted the 'buy in' according to how many players lasted the course.

This time, i will be organising better food and i think those drinking should bring a few beers, i will get 24 bottles in the fridge but this lasted about 20 minutes last time (as peter turned up) :-) I still have gook's chipset and the cards from vegas itself so we can expect another tension packed evening.

New Poker Blog

After the success of a Texas Hold'em poker evening hosted by Tony Cossey in September 2005 a group of players decided to organise a regular game. The rules, which limited the downside for players, ensured the whole evening was competitive and highly enjoyable. The report on the first poker evening can be found of Tony Cossey's blog at http://tonycossey.blogspot.com. This blog has been created as the evening has proved so popular, this blog will be used as a communications hub for players and others interested in the upminster poker ring.
